My review ill keep it short: Gabbie’s note ive included links so you can read up a little about the main characters .
It starts with a son who still hasn’t seen the world and doesnt know what to fear or to expect . Marco is in hes early 20s in many ways still clueless. Hes father makes a deal with the Khan and Marco stays but hes not happy at all. He is a outsider but in many ways a prisoner. As you sit and watch you see that he has so much to learn about this foreign world hes now living in . Hes limited on what he can do but not what he can say . Over time the Khan ( king or ruler depending on how you see it) takes a liking to him and begins to trust him but hes hes advisers don’t . Don’t forget that !!
Its a beautiful story it has a a lot of action and a few nudity BUT its expected because its a human thing right ? The opening credits are my favorite part very artistic also they have a awesome Asian feel . People are comparing this to game of thrones and marco polo is in a whole different ball park on its own. Its kung-fu and major bad ass kicking and historical events added to it . Now it might not be to the ‘T’ to what might have actually happened but the events do keep you glued. You want to know whats going to happen and you hope that maybe just maybe Marco doesn’t get him self killed for opening hes “foreigner mouth” so to speak . What I like the most is the women in the series is they do their own fighting and they dont need a guy to save them .There’s a part I wont give away you will NEVER see a sword the same way again.
The empress holy crap this women is BAD ASS ! She will not let anyone mess with her family .Like most series out there there’s a few sideline stories and they add more to the main story. One story I liked was about the ‘Blue Princess” hers is all about survival and in her case you try your best. Most of the characters are either foreign or part of the court and there’s blood shed you have to move past that. Over all I liked it and I cant wait to see what Season 2 will be like.
5 Gabbie stars out of 5
